Questions about outlets & switches

Useful answers before the work begins.

Should I continue using a warm or discolored outlet?

No. Stop using it and arrange an assessment. Heat or discoloration can indicate a loose connection, damaged device, overload, or another fault.

Why will a GFCI outlet not reset?

It may lack power, have a downstream fault, be connected incorrectly, or have failed. Testing is needed to identify the actual cause.
